I like this tut, only thing Im not fully understanding is when you use the sparks brush and displace the render and the background..... how do you displace the renderby the sparks layer? Thanks for any response

in the "Gradients" section of the toolbox, select the gradient labeled incandescent. Then just do a gradient map under colors -> Map -> gradient map.
